Mark 8:2-3 I have compassion on the crowdbecause they have been  with me now three daysand have nothing to eatand if I send them away hungry to their homesthey will faint on the wayand some of them have come a long way.”

The disciples never seemed to get the big picture. Jesus could do anything the Father needed Him to do. He had compassion on the people because his Father had compassion on the people. The disciples thought feeding so many people was a big deal, but Jesus knew that was nothing compared with the spiritual feeding they were getting and would continue to get. They watched lives being restored right before their eyes. Diseases and disabilities eliminated with a touch or a word. Sins forgiven and demons cast out at the command of Jesus. All this before their eyes and they acted like bread was the most challenging accomplishment.

I know that Jesus can supply all my wants. He also knows everything I need, and especially what is best for me. Many times God has delivered very earthly material needs for me. I could site examples where very large and material gifts have removed obstacles from my path. The most important things Jesus has done for me cannot be measured in dollars and cents, or in any other material way. God had compassion on me and restored my life. He gave me everything I needed to become a new man. Don't get me wrong it didn't change my body. I didn't get taller or thinner or stronger or better looking, but I am a new man. The spiritual healing that was accomplished day after day, month after month and year after year have blessed my life in more ways than a loaf of bread or any other material gift.

I continue to pray for that compassion to change me, and I pray His compassion will also change you.
