John 6:27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you; for on him has God the Father set his seal.”
Jesus is always more interested in feeding us spiritually than physically. When I returned from my time away last summer, I began to take out the frozen foods I had left. Some of them were fine to thaw and eat other items I had to discard because they had spoiled. From time to time I have to go through my refrigerator and throw away the items that have gathered a little at a time and are no longer any good. In their time they were all good food but food that nourish the body will all eventually spoil. Even canned goods have an expiration date although when you look at some of it the dates are an awful long time away.
On the other hand when Jesus provides spiritual food it never spoils. This essential nutrition is available all the time. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week the kitchen is always open and the meal is free. The only hitch in the scheme is that we need to recognize the hunger and thirst for righteousness and accept that spiritual nourishment. No force feeding in this spiritual realm.
What do you hunger for? I have to admit I had a nice burger for lunch, but that can't compare to the food I get for my soul.
